Rating Levels

Your acromegaly has caused severe complications across multiple body systems that prevent you from working and performing daily activities.

What the VA looks for

Severe multi-system complications (cardiac, metabolic, neurological)
Progressive disease refractory to treatment
Severe cardiomyopathy or heart failure
Significant visual field loss from pituitary mass
Precludes employment
Frequent hospitalizations

Common Pitfalls

⚠Not documenting all affected body systems — acromegaly can cause joint problems, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and visual field loss.
⚠Not filing for separate secondary conditions for each complication.
⚠Not connecting to a pituitary tumor that may have been caused by head trauma during service.
⚠Not getting IGF-1 levels documented to show ongoing hormonal imbalance.
