A serious condition where your bone marrow stops making enough blood cells (red cells, white cells, and platelets). This causes fatigue, frequent infections, and uncontrolled bleeding. The VA rates aplastic anemia based on the severity of your blood counts and the treatment you need.
The VA rates this condition based on the type and intensity of treatment you require. Higher ratings correspond to more aggressive treatment regimens, such as daily medication, insulin dependence, or the need for ongoing medical management.
