Chronic inflammation of the bladder causing persistent or recurrent urinary symptoms including frequency, urgency, dysuria (painful urination), and recurrent urinary tract infections. The VA rates chronic cystitis based on the frequency of infections and voiding dysfunction.
The VA rates this condition based on how often symptoms occur and how severe each episode is. The examiner will ask about the frequency, duration, and intensity of your episodes, as well as how they affect your ability to work.

You have recurrent symptomatic urinary tract infections requiring drainage, frequent hospitalizations (more than two per year), or continuous intensive management. Your condition may also be rated under voiding dysfunction or urinary frequency criteria, whichever is higher.
