Residual effects from cancer of the larynx (voice box), which may include voice changes, breathing difficulty, and swallowing problems. May be linked to in-service toxic exposures, burn pits, or Agent Orange. The VA rates laryngeal cancer residuals based on whether the cancer is active and the severity of residual impairment after treatment.
The VA rates this condition based on the type and intensity of treatment you require. Higher ratings correspond to more aggressive treatment regimens, such as daily medication, insulin dependence, or the need for ongoing medical management.
