Understand what the VA looks for at each rating level — loading conditions…
Loss of teeth due to loss of substance of the body of the maxilla or mandible (jaw bone). The VA rates tooth loss based on how many teeth are missing and whether they can be replaced by a prosthesis (denture). Only tooth loss due to bone loss is compensable — tooth loss from gum disease alone is not.
The VA rates this condition based on how much it affects your ability to work and carry out daily activities. The examiner will focus on the functional limitations your condition causes, not just the diagnosis itself.
