An inflammatory bowel disease that causes long-lasting inflammation and ulcers in the lining of the large intestine and rectum. The VA rates ulcerative colitis based on frequency and severity of exacerbations.

You have severe ulcerative colitis with numerous attacks per year and malnutrition, with health only fair during remissions.

Common Pitfalls

⚠Missing secondary conditions: joint pain (arthritis), skin conditions, eye inflammation, liver problems, and depression are common with ulcerative colitis.
