Paralysis or dysfunction of the ulnar nerve, which controls sensation in the ring and little fingers and the fine motor muscles of the hand. Ulnar nerve damage causes a characteristic "claw hand" deformity and difficulty with grip strength and finger coordination. The dominant (major) hand receives higher ratings at moderate and above levels.
The VA rates this condition based on how much it affects your ability to work and carry out daily activities. The examiner will focus on the functional limitations your condition causes, not just the diagnosis itself.
