A chronic condition causing a burning sensation in the mouth, tongue, lips, gums, or palate without an identifiable dental or medical cause. The VA rates based on the frequency and severity of symptoms and their impact on eating and quality of life.
The VA rates this condition based on how often symptoms occur and how severe each episode is. The examiner will ask about the frequency, duration, and intensity of your episodes, as well as how they affect your ability to work.
