Understand what the VA looks for at each rating level — loading conditions…
Amputation of the middle (third, long) finger at various levels. The middle finger contributes to power grip and hand stability. The VA assigns a fixed 20 percent rating for middle finger amputation regardless of dominance, except at the PIP joint level which receives a lower rating.
This condition has a fixed rating under VA regulations. Unlike most conditions, the rating does not vary based on severity. If the VA grants service connection, the rating percentage is set by regulation.
