PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) — C&P Exam Preparation

A mental health condition triggered by experiencing or witnessing a terrifying event. The VA rates PTSD based on how much it affects your ability to work and maintain relationships.

The examiner will ask about your traumatic event(s) and your current symptoms. This is a conversation, not a written test.
You will be asked how your symptoms affect your work, relationships, and daily life. Be specific and honest.
The examiner will assess your appearance, mood, speech, thought process, and behavior during the interview.
You may be asked about suicidal thoughts, substance use, and medication — answer truthfully.
The exam is not a therapy session. The examiner is there to record your current condition, not to treat you.
