A common inner ear disorder that causes brief episodes of spinning dizziness triggered by changes in head position. Caused by displaced calcium crystals (otoconia) in the semicircular canals. Can result from head trauma, blast exposure, or inner ear damage during military service. Rated based on the frequency and severity of dizziness and staggering.
The VA rates this condition based on how often symptoms occur and how severe each episode is. The examiner will ask about the frequency, duration, and intensity of your episodes, as well as how they affect your ability to work.
