Hypertension (High Blood Pressure) — C&P Exam Preparation

Hypertension DBQ~15-20 minutes

Chronically elevated blood pressure. The VA rates hypertension based on your diastolic and systolic blood pressure readings and whether you need continuous medication.

The examiner will take your blood pressure — usually 2-3 readings to get an accurate measurement.
Your medical records will be reviewed for a history of blood pressure readings.
You will be asked about your medications and any side effects.
The examiner will check for complications of high blood pressure: heart problems, kidney problems, vision changes.
This is one of the shorter C&P exams since it is primarily based on objective measurements.
